Marita is a thin layer linear analyzer specially designed for beta
detection. The detector has an active length of 200 mm. For various
applications the active width can be limited from 20 mm down to 15, 10,
3 and 1 mm by simple exchange of the diaphragm.
All ionizing radiation is detectable by the Marita position sensitive proportional
gas flow counter.
For the measurement of the low energy betas of tritium the counting tube has to
be used without any window and as close as possible to the radiation source.
Therefore the Marita detector rests on the surface of the sample in order to close
the counting chamber, to reduce gas leakage and to present a zero distance
between source and detector. In Contrast to the Rita Star there is only one trace of TLC
which can be measured automaticly. The TLC-strip is inserted in a tray which is pushed
inside and elevated by a talk.
Detector
The gold plated detector Marita is the only detector for position sensitive
proportional counting, which uses a gold plated sensing element.
